5 Ways to Kiss Wrinkles Goodbye

We've all been there. You wake up one morning, look in the mirror, and those little lines that were once barely noticeable have now turned into full-blown wrinkles. What gives?

Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process and are most often caused by sun damage, smoking, dehydration, and repetitive facial expressions. But just because they're common doesn't mean we have to like them. If you're looking for ways to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, you've come to the right place. Keep reading for the top 5 ways to treat wrinkles on your face.

1. Apply sunscreen daily.

One of the best ways to prevent wrinkles is by using sunscreen every day, no matter what the weather is like outside. Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun damage the collagen in your skin, which leads to wrinkles and other signs of aging. So, make sure that you always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to your face before you go outside.

2. Eat healthy foods.

What you eat shows up on your face eventually, so it's important to eat healthy foods that are packed with nutrients like vitamins A, C, E, and omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals—unstable molecules that break down collagen and lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Some delicious foods that are rich in these nutrients include salmon, avocados, nuts, seeds, sweet potatoes, carrots, leafy green vegetables (spinach, kale), tomatoes, oranges/goji berries/other citrus fruits......the list goes on! So eat up!

3. Use anti-wrinkle skincare products.

If you're looking for a targeted solution for your wrinkles, then an anti-wrinkle skincare product is a great option. Look for products that contain a higher amount of active ingredients, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), or plant stem cells—these ingredients have all been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and deep creases. Be sure to use these products as directed though; too much of a good thing can actually cause irritation and dryness. Start with once daily application and increase as tolerated.

4. Exfoliate regularly.

Exfoliation is another important part of preventing wrinkles because it helps to get rid of dead skin cells that can make your skin look dull and lifeless. When you exfoliate on a regular basis, you're essentially giving your skin a fresh start, which can help it look brighter and smoother over time. Just be sure not to overdo it, as exfoliating too often can actually damage your skin.

5. Use a moisturizer that contains Hyaluronic Acid.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a type of molecule that naturally occurs in our skin. It's known for its ability to hold 1000 times its weight in water, which makes it an excellent hydrating agent. Hyaluronic acid can help plump up the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by attracting and retaining moisture. You can find hyaluronic acid in moisturizers as well as creams. This stuff works—make sure to add it next time you shop.

If you're noticing more wrinkles on your face than ever before, don't panic! There are plenty of ways to combat them—you just have to find the right one (or ones) for you. From anti-wrinkle serums and night creams to sunscreen and exfoliation, there are plenty of options available to help you keep your skin looking its best as you age gracefully. And remember: investing in a good skincare routine is one of the best things you can do for preventing wrinkles (and keeping them at bay).
